The day that my younger brother told me to call the doctor because her case was much worse than a mere anemia. She was on 4 days blood transfusion. Had on and off fever due to SEPSIS. Her weakened immune system wasn't able to fight off 2 kinds of bacteria in her blood. She had to stay at the hospital for another week and another doctor to look at her condition. Her chemo treatment was delayed as well.
At that time I was super worried, had sleepless night and even collapsed at work. I decided to seek advice from HR and they told me that all they can do is let me go. But to be honest if they were as strict as the other companies they will not let me do so. Since I owe the company negative credit leaves that were used during lockdown and the emergency cash advance I need to partially still pay around 760aed. Yet they gracefully lift that and book me a flight home. Owwa was able to handle returning ofws well covering the expenses of the swab test and quarantine hotel. Even booked a free flight to Cebu and again put in a quarantine hotel. That time I spent singing songs of praise and worship to God. Praying for my daughter's full recovery and health restored.
We partially paid 113,000 for her 1 week stay at the hospital. Her final bill came to 207,000 amounting to more than 300,000 php worth of hospital bill. That is even less with Philhealth. It is still pretty high.
My family went all out and borrowed money from family and friends.
The CHAMP from the house of the mayor was approved by 30k. Thanked God but still for the next time they required a voters certificate.
I unfortunately was an Overseas Filipino Worker for 2 years in UAE and have not voted ever since. I didnt thought my registration has such expiry. I am not even updated in paying with Phil health but luckily they allowed us to pay what so it can be updated. It helped a bit with the bills.
Depression sips in as her Chemo therapy is every week bill estimate amounts to 25,000php. As part of her intensive treatment procedure. Her type of cancer is curable but to such amount of medical bills is overwhelming. I am a single mother currently jobless to walk and complete her paperwork. To also personally look after her.
We can't transfer her to a public hospital as one of the foundations I sought help said that they even advice those patients to be transferred elsewhere due to the mixture of old and young patients and long lines. Totally exposing the weaken immune system of the cancer patients. They die from infections rather than the cancer itself.
She had her first chemo therapy on August 12, Wednesday. Her payment to that first chemo is from the donations compiled around 30k. So it is less with Philhealth it is around 25k.
I am still waiting for the medical abstract and protocol from the doc to be submitted to Kythe and other foundations. I even need to go to DSWD as they didn't gave me a social case study that was also required. They told me I need to ask that from PCSO but they told me they dont require such.
DSWD main only accepts provincial request so I had to go to DSWD in labangon so far they gave me 3k as a financial assistance but they also told me their budget is getting low due to covid. Some other asked why only 3k when others got 10 to 15k. That I do not know and maybe because of the interview. As they ask what was my job and other family members job. Sure my father is a seafarer but i still have alot of brothers and sister that needs to finish school. My youngest sister is still 6 months old.
I even cried today because my father said to use the money he sent for my other younger brother's tuition. I felt guilty that my brother's college schooling will be affected. He saw me crying and I asked forgiveness. He told me he is fine to stop for a year if it will extend the life of his niece. He said he will work for now to also help out the family. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
